I'm Back

Hi Everyone! I'm finally back after a 13 month break! For those of you wondering, I was away as I was working in a lab for a year, so was unable to paint my nails at all. Not even a clear nail strengthener. I was awful at first but then I got used to it. Now that's over and I'm back at uni for my final year, and I can start this up again! My nails aren't in the best condition, and I'm pretty out of practice with the art (as you can probably tell from the photo) so it'll take me a month or two to get back to how I was, but I'm really looking forward to starting this up again.

So yeah, thanks for sticking with me and hopefully you'll like what I'm going to be doing!

Disney's Inside Out nails

I've been excited for the release of Disney's Inside Out since I first saw the trailer, so after I booked my tickets to go and it I decided to paint my nails to match. Here are my Inside Out nails featuring Disgust, Fear and Anger!

The movie was good, very emotional and I'm not afraid to say that I shed a tear towards the end!

The base of Disgust, Fear and Anger are gradient nails. To create Disgust I used China Glaze - 'Treble Maker' and 'Be More Pacific'. For Fear I used Barry M - 'Purple' and Essie - Lilacism. For Anger I used China Glaze - 'With Love', and finally the base for the logo is Barry M - Blue.

Green Crosshatch

I've been doing some pretty complex designs lately so decided to take it down a few notches today and do something simple. I ended up doing this classic crosshatch design with diamontes.

To create this design I first painted two thin coats of OPI - Alpine Snow  on my index and pinky fingers, and two thin coats of China Glaze - Treble Maker on my middle and ring fingers.

1. Start with two thin coats of your base colour.
2. Using a thin brush draw three diagonal lines on your nail with the other polish.
3. Draw three more diagonal lines in the opposite direction then seal with a top coat.
4. Start with two thin coats of your base colour.
5. Place the diamontes on your nail and then put a top coat over to seal them in.

Inspired by a makeup look

So last night I was browsing Instagram and I saw this incredible makeup look that Lucisferismydad did. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to do some nail art based on it, so here they are!

The black line on the top is meant to be the eyeliner and the pink on the bottom is the pink waterline.

The polishes that I used were 'Pink Voltage', 'Liquid Leather', 'Fairy Dust' and 'Treble Maker' by China Glaze, 'Haute in the Heat' and 'Ruffles and Feathers' by Essie, 'Bright Purple' and 'Cobalt Blue' by Barry M.

To do the design I put a blob of polish on a peice of paper and used the sponge effect, with torn up bits of sponge and my tweezers.

Sci-Fi Aztec Nail Art

Last month I had the honour of doing a 'Nail Swap' with the talented Coewless on Instagram. She had done this amazing tribal design that I was dying to recreate!

Below is the final image, with the originals on the left and the copied nails on the right.

This design was super easy to do! I started with a base of Miss Sporty club colours in no. 1, which is the silver base. Then with a thin nail brush and black and white acrylic paint, I carefully painted on the tribal design. I added China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy to the triangle on the middle finger and then I was done!
